As Massproductions returns to the Stockholm Furniture Fair, the company is coming back to the place where its journey once began. At its debut in 2009, the then-newly established furniture brand presented itself in a modest 25-square-meter booth. With a striking installation of its very first product—the Tio Chair—suspended in a large cloud-like formation, Massproductions captured visitors’ attention and laid the foundation for its international success.
The Stockholm Furniture Fair became a pivotal springboard for the company. It was here that architects, customers, journalists, and agents from around the world first discovered Massproductions. Shortly thereafter, the Tio Chair began appearing in projects in cities such as Tokyo, São Paulo, and Innsbruck, which quickly established the brand on the international design scene.
Now, 18 years later, Massproductions is returning to the trade show in a new role. This time, the focus is not only on showcasing its own collection, but also on highlighting the next generation of design entrepreneurs through a curated selection of emerging designers and brands.
“Massproductions was one of the first companies in many years to bring design and production under one roof. Hopefully, we have inspired a new generation of design entrepreneurs to believe in their ideas and dare to take the plunge. Eighteen years later, it feels especially rewarding to curate a selection of the next generation of design entrepreneurs in a place that has been so significant to our own journey.”
– Magnus Elebäck, co-founder of Massproductions
The company’s participation is therefore both a look back at its own history and a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative drive that continue to shape the Swedish design industry. By giving new voices a platform, Massproductions hopes to offer the next generation the same opportunity for international exposure that they themselves received nearly two decades ago.
